How to Use Meditation for Anxiety

Hi Reader,

When I was young I wanted life to move fast:

  • I eagerly waited to turn 21
  • I would pray for things to happen yesterday
  • I couldn't wait to hit the job market, had my own money, independence, and live a life I wanted to live.

But what I didn't realized at that point was that expeditiously way of living was not healthy, and later on in life, this would come back to haunt me.

As our routines and lives continue to change and challenges persist, it's not uncommon for anxiety to sneak into our lives, casting its uncalled-for complexities.

I was never formally diagnosed with anxiety, but a light version of this condition showed up unexpectedly, throughout the pandemic, during my spiritual awakening (which is a whole other story in itself).

But I wanted to take a few moments to talk about something very close to my heart : meditation...

And how it can become a remedy for anxiety.

As I said before, meditation is not about emptying our minds or achieving a state of eternal bliss. Instead, it’s about getting in touch with our inner being and the present moment.

It's about training our minds to focus on the now, and this, in turn, helps us to reduce stress, lower blood pressure, and even improve heart rate!

Back to my youth, I never lived in the NOW. My mind was always in the future. But there was problem with that mindset: even though I could plan for the future, the future is uncertain, therefore, I couldn't control it.
