Benefits of Meditation for Sleep

Hi Reader,

Recently, while traveling and spending some time at my parents' home, we were chatting about sleeping patterns. Or the fact that my parents, who are in their 70s, can fall asleep anytime, anywhere, whether it's by the noise of a construction zone, with the sun searing in their faces, while watching TV, or something else.

As a retired ob-gyn, my mom credits this to her early years working in emergency rooms, where she had long shifts with a few breaks here and there. So, her body needed to adapt. As far as I remember, my dad was always a fast sleeper growing up.

I admit that I'm jealous of it.

Not that I have problems falling asleep, but my environment needs to be completely curated to help me fall asleep -- a dark room, no noise whatsoever (or maybe a white noise machine, fan, or air conditioner), and a short meditation to set the stage. Sleeping is sacred for me. So, I nurture this ritual to have a good night's sleep and function.

However, I also understand this is not a reality for everyone. We all have different schedules, live different lives, and have different biological clocks.

And our circadian rhythms can even suffer a major upset when our world gets upside down (as it seems we are currently living).

In situations like this, what can you do then?

Sometimes it's hard to be unplugged. And don't worry, I'm not going to encourage you to go against your "doctor's orders". But if you follow my newsletter, you know that meditation is my refuge. As I have mentioned before (perhaps in one of my previous posts), meditation is one of the most common methods people use to improve sleep.

This is why I want to share two resources with you today:

Even if you don't need it, we all know someone who would want to get a better snooze. So feel free to share.

I'd love to know what you think!

Fear lives in the nervous system, in the...
